Lihikai Elementary School is located in Kahului on the island of Maui.
Lihikai's name translates to, "lihi" meaning near, and "kai" meaning sea.
Our logo, designed by a former LES student, depicts a surfer riding a pencil surfboard, through the waves - the pages of a book. This design ties together our mascot, the surfer, with classic symbols of education to create a seamless and beautiful image representing Lihikai.
Our colors are aqua and white.
The original school building was built in 1961 on Kaahumanu Avenue, next to the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center and Maui Beach Hotel.
In 1965, Lihikai relocated to our current campus on South Papa Avenue and expanded to a K-8 school.
Today, Lihikai proudly serves a diverse array of students their families from pre-K through grade 5.
We are a Title I school with well over 47.2% of our students qualifying for "free/reduced" meal pricing.
